Welcome, Peaches Grindstaff!!

  • .:SPECIAL of the DAY:. yay, PEACHES!!
SURPRISE!  Yesterday I came home after painting boards with the V4DD Team (i.e. Vote 4 David Dodd) for David's campaign and found a surprise waiting: my parents brought home a new puppy!!

Introducing:

PEACHES!!  She's seven-months old, and is the cutest German Shepard-mix you've ever seen!!  I think she's part Collie, too.

She is just the sweetest thing!!  She hasn't bothered Brownie (our old Cocker Spaniel—who, were he just a bit younger, would never have tolerated another dog...he's kinda protective, as is natural for his breed) and Meghan (our slightly-younger-than-Brownie uber-fat calico cat), and is really sweet to them, too.  She's already bigger than Brownie, and she's only gonna get bigger!   {COOL!}  Well...it might not be so cool if she tries to rough-house with Brownie.  My parents got Peaches from the Humane Society, and Peaches was in there with her sister (so she's used to living and romping with other puppies); Brownie...well, he's never been civil to other doggies, if ya know what I mean (okay, truth be told, he has always considered himself to be a doberman  instead of a cocker spaniel)Brownie's kinda scared of her...but then again, now that he's old, he's scared of everything!!  And he's deaf, so that makes dealing with him a little difficult at times.  But so far, only a few growls and that's it.  My cat is having a slightly difficult time getting used to Peaches, as she's scared of the new puppy.  But like Brownie, so far so good.  For example, the cat was sprawled out on my mom's lap last night; Peaches was roaming around getting used to her new home and went up to Meghan and licked her face!  Meghan () DID NOT LIKE THAT VERY MUCH.  But she let Peaches do her thing and move on (very bizarre, especially since this is the same cat that likes to pick on poor Brownie!).  Ultimately, Meghan and Brownie are adjusting to their new companion.

Well, I'm sure y'all will be hearing more about my new puppy in the future.  I gotta run now cuz I have work to finish before David comes home from Indiana (he had drill this weekend, so I haven't seen my honey yet since I've been home!).  Ugh, , he'll be home soon enough.

...I wonder what he'll think of our new dog...

Ciao, y'all!  ...it's sooooooooo good to be home!!

PS: Brownie wants to eat Peaches' food (puppy chow), and Peaches only is interested in Brownie's food (old-man doggie chow). How do you get them to eat THEIR OWN food?  Advice would be appreciated.

Update:

Peaches found her way up to Brownie's couch,
and the two had a nap together.
